Killing Kennedy by Bill O'Reilly & Martin Dugard

This books gives an in depth focus on Kennedy's presidency, the Bay of Pigs, the Cuban Missle Crisis, the fear American's began to have about the Soviet Union and how Lee Harvey Oswald was involved with the Soviet Union and what led him to assassinate President Kennedy. Nothing is held back in this book. Kennedy's numerous affairs and ailing health are addressed along with how this affected Jackie and the White House staff. You can feel and emphasize with Kennedy's mishap involving the Bay of Pigs. You feel the stress and anguish Kennedy tries to hide addressing the nation about how the Soviet Union is providing Cuba with nuclear war heads and how these war heads are to be aimed at American soil. You can feel Jackie's despair at Kennedy's numerous affairs, but the conflict as this is the man she truly loves. You can see how the FBI keeps hounding  Lee Harvey with a feeling something is not right with this man. Unrest is in American as blacks are fighting for equality and Martin Luther King Jr is now on the seen giving moving speeches. America is in a season of change and all the events of change leading up to the assassination are beautifully written.

The Perfect Match by Kristan Higgins

This is book 2 in the Blue Heron series created by the Kristan Higgins.  This little town has had many love matches over the years that are the subjects in Higgin's previous books. I will provide a list further down. This book is about a workaholic Honor who works the business side of the family winery. She has turned 35 and her biological clock is ticking. So in hopes of having a baby she proposes to her friend, who declines and leaves her crushed. Swooping in is the dashing Tom who has a British accent and conveniently needs a green card. Typical romance novel with tales of woe, but what makes Higgins' books stand out is the comical situations the heroines and heroes get tangled up in which do sometimes involve the minor character of a dog with quite the personality. I will not reveal them, but trust me you will laugh out loud.

Stephanie Plum Series

There are currently 20 Stephanie Plum novels and 4 in between the number Plum novels. I am currently about to start book 15. This series is written by Janet Evanovich. Each novel has made me laugh, roll my eyes and empathize with Miss Plum and her wacky adventures. The other characters also make these books a great, fast read. Stephanie's on/off again boyfriend Joe Morelli, sidekick and work partners Lula and Ranger, Grandma Mazur are just a few of the quirky characters. The basic storyline is that Miss Plum has become a bounty hunter in order to make ends meet. The problem is she is not a good bounty hunter and has the worst luck in getting herself into some sticky situations in which case Morelli and Ranger have to help her out of.

Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly & Martin Dugar

This books tells the last months leading up to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. The authors have dug up historical facts about the Civil War, Lincoln's presidency, marriage and assassination. The book is a narrative story line that provides insight about the meshing of lives of John Wilkes Booth, Abraham Lincoln, Mary Todd Lincoln and Lincoln's closest advisers. Many details are provided about the end of the Civil War I never learned in a schoolbook. The reader is given a detailed image of how distraught and physically ill Lincoln was about the war and how badly he wanted slavery abolished without losing lives in a war that would not seem to end. Highly recommend this book as gives the reader a view of what Lincoln faced in his presidency, how he did not back down and put his life at stake for his beliefs.

The Sorcerer's Ring Series by Morgan Rice

This series is a combination of the Lord of the Rings meets the Sword in the Stone meets Chronicles of Narnia. It is a fantasy based series with dragons, wizards, sea creatures, monsters, friends,  feuding kings, druids, true love, courage, betrayal, redemption and destiny. The story starts with a boy named Thor who desires to be part of the King's circle of knights. He is turned down but ventures to the King's castle to prove he is capable of being in the highly selective King's Legion. There Thor meets the King's daughter Gwen and falls in love. In the meantime the King's children are awaiting the announcement of who will inherit the kingdom from their father. Godfrey the middle child is determined to take the kingdom. The Queen is highly against this love match of Thor & Gwen tries to persuade the King to send Thor back to his own city and begs Gwen to break ties with Thor. The King has accepted Thor as his own son and has accepted him into the castle to live. At the end of the book the King has been killed and Thor is blamed being taken into the dungeons.
